Finished and Finished

So Becky worked high and I worked low today and we both finished our projects. A special thanks to the kids that helped me out with the gravel.

ZOMG!

OK, so here's my advice, if you're building a house put the gravel in the basement *before* you put on the first floor. That way you don't have to shovel it by hand and wheelbarrow it all in. Fortunately, I have the same kids helping me who shoveled the snow out of the basement so we should be done tomorrow.

Also Rebecca is very relieved that she finished the soffit today. I told here she should celebrate by trimming a couple more inches off those cutoffs. She thought differently though. Oh well…

Stay in school everyone! You don't want to have to shovel gravel for eight hours a day. At least, I don't want to.

Getting Closer.

Becky worked on the siding yesterday. We are also having gravel for the floors delivered today.

Whew! Plumbing.

Well, we are pretty stoked. The plumbers came today and worked quickly and efficiently. The name of the company is "All-West Plumbing" out of Lethbridge. The plumbers also put in the Centro-Flo vacuum thing too (Thanks Mom and Dad Toly for hanging on to that for all of those years!) They also got things ready for pouring the basement too, so we'll be working toward that in the next couple of weeks. Tomorrow Rebecca will be working with Clark Selk (electrician) to start wiring the house. Please check out the stone façades and tell us which one you like. Thanks!

Some Siding and Trim

Man, it was totally hot today. However, we pressed forward and got a bit done. We spent the whole day on ladders which is not really my favourite thing to do. Oh, plus here's a different view of the excavation.

More Excavating and Siding

Becky's parents came over and helped her with a bunch of the soffit. Thanks! She also got the siding done on the shed dormer. There was also some excavating happening too.

Ho-lah! (Holy!)

Anyway, things are looking different on the lot. Hughson Trucking came over and moved a bunch of dirt. The garage looks a lot better as does the front yard. The back yard also looks a bit more like the final product will. Also they are going to backfill around the house so it'll be easier to plant a ladder there.

Oh! Also Charlton & Hill came over and installed the chimney for the wood-burning stove. Here's a picture of it -->

Trim, baby!

We are putting some wood trim around the windows. What do you think? We are going to install the front door tomorrow.

Major Stainage

So I spent some time staining our deck. It was a bit of a pain b/c you put on some of it, wait a half an hour and then wipe off the excess. So each section took a while but I think it turned out all right. Also, it only needs one coat so that is a plus. The weather here has been very cooperative over the last week.

Becky takes some time off safari to check out my work.

More Siding! Thanks Mom and Dad.

It was a super nice day today and my parents came out to help Becky and I with some more siding. We got most of the back done before lunch. We ate some lunch that Mom and Dad brought. Then in the PM we got some of the east side of the house done. All in all a pretty good day.

"Now it can rain all it wants!"

Becky said this today because the roof is now completely shingled! Woo Hoo! Anyway, those guys at Jones Roofing worked super fast and got it all done today. They're are even coming back to pick up the trash and drag a magnet around to pick up dropped nails.

My parents are coming out tomorrow to help us put up some more of the siding.

Also, here is a picture of some of the ducting in the house.

Roof and Deck

We had some extremely talented people show up at our house today.

First, we had Becky's parents come to help with the deck. It is finished and ready to be stained. We are really
happy with the cedar and it smells great! We got it at Prairie Cedar in Coalhurst and it was way cheaper than the big box stores. Thanks to Bob and LaDeen Wilde for their help!

In other exciting news our roofers showed up from Jones Roofing in Lethbridge. They worked super fast and we're really pleased with the results. The whole front of the house is now shingled. These workers also di a great job of cleaning up when they were done.
